Carmen's obituary reads as follows:
A Sioux City airman, S.Sgt. Carmen J. "Tony" Lecato Jr., who was stationed at Edwards Air
Force Base, Calif. was killed in a one-car accident in Lancaster Calif. Friday evening (2/21/1975).
The California Highway Patrol said Lecato was westbound on an avenue in Lancaster at
7:10 p.m. when his car apparently left the roadway. Lecato, who was alone in the car, ap-
parently tried to return the vehicle to the roadway, but the car hit a two-foot embankment.
Officers said the car then rolled over and slid into a telephone pole.
He was born May 24, 1945, in Sioux City and was graduated from East High School in 1963.
He entered the U.S. Air Force on July 8, 1963 and served in Vietnam before being assigned
to Edwards AFB two years ago.
