Gerald DeWayne Lenz of Elk Point, SD entered into rest on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 while traveling through Emporia, Kansas. He was 72.  Gerald was born Wednesday, March 15, 1944 in Sioux City, Iowa to Walter Julius H. and Lucille (Bennett) Lenz. He proudly served with the Air Force in Iceland on a flight line. He was the police chief for Elk Point, SD many years ago. He was also a volunteer at the Museum in Sioux City, Iowa. Gerald was a Lutheran. He loved working on his family Genealogy. He married Carol "Kay" Ann Schroeder on Dec 4 in 1971. Kay passed away in Dec.1996. Gerald then married Vicky (Stewart) on June 09, 2011 in Galveston, TX.
 Gerald is preceded in death by his parents; Walter and Lucille Lenz; wife, Kay Lenz; and brother, Walter Lenz Great Grandson, Layton Gorman & Lukas Rabey. He is survived by his wife, Vicky Lenz of Elk Point, SD; sons, Chad Lenz of Tomball, TX, Scott (Danna) Lenz of Magnolia, TX, and Michael (Tamra) Lenz of Pinehurst, TX Daughter, Lina (Brad) Weber of Tyler TX; step daughters, Jackie Lynn (Randy Pirner) Loghry-Pirner of Sioux City, IA, Angel Groethe of Elk Point, SD, and Lori (Stacey) Rabey of Akron, IA; brother, Ronald (Diane) Lenz of Sgt. Bluff, IA; sister, Patricia (Jim) Duff of Sioux City, IA; sister-in-law, Louise Lenz of Sioux City, IA; grandchildren, Brittany (Thomas), Christine (Trey), Allen, Nathan, Mandy (Joseph), Brandy, Eric, Brayden, Derrick (Amber), Andrew, Justyne, Jorden, Heath (Catrina), and Holly; great grandchildren, Alayna, Zander, Madison, Patrick, Noah, Levi, Evan, Elijah, Kaylee, Emma, Victoria, Braden, and Luke.
 Services will be held in Tomball, Texas at Klein Funeral Home on Monday 6/20/16. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral services.   A Memorial Service will be held on June 25, 2016 from 2pm to 4pm at the Sgt. Bluff Community Center in Sgt. Bluff, Iowa
